What is canyoning?

Canyoning is an outdoor sporting activity that consists of descending a watercourse on foot from upstream to downstream, overcoming the various obstacles in the most appropriate way: jumps, rappels, slides on natural slides, zip-lines. The river configuration makes the obstacles mandatory. These will be arranged by your instructor (rappels, jumps, slides, etc...)
The descent also includes swimming and walking sections in the river (in and out of water).

Why "Special Family" routes

Water hikes and Family Canyoning take place on accessible routes for all, ideal for discovering canyoning and experiencing sensations from an early age. There are no big rappels or mandatory obstacles. All jumps can be bypassed.
Program: slides, swimming, fun water passages and small jumps for all levels, all in the middle of nature in a wild atmosphere.
Accessible to children from 6/7 years old.
Not much approach or return walk.

What is water hiking?

Water hiking consists of descending a less gorged and steep river. For this we do not need harnesses, carabiners and ropes. Progress is made by walking and swimming. Regularly, this descent is punctuated by natural slides, obstacles and jumps in pools.
This activity is intended for adults, teens and hiking enthusiasts looking for new landscapes.
It allows you to discover preserved nature and share simple moments far from the beaten path.

What you need to know before practicing this activity

It is a sporting activity.

  • Swimming is mandatory.
  • You will evolve in a specific environment with hazardous terrain and therefore risks.
  • The risk of accident remains present despite being supervised by a professional certified instructor.
  • An accident can occur without the responsibility of the supervisor or organizer being engaged.
  • Warning: the use of sunscreen is formally prohibited in rivers and canyons

What are the contraindications related to canyoning?

To practice canyoning, you must be in good health. The following medical history is contraindicated:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Spine problems
  • Stress in the presence of water
  • Joint problems (shoulders, knees, hips, ankles, wrists, elbows, cervicals)
  • Significant vision problems
  • Mental disorders (psychiatric, psychic, psychological, etc...)
  • Persons with disabilities.

What is the typical accident rate in canyoning?

Risks to persons are often due to:

  • A slip
  • Poor landing from a jump or slide
  • A fall due to slipping while walking in the river
  • Non-compliance with and/or misunderstanding of safety instructions
  • Uncontrolled individual initiative.
  • Sudden water rise

Material risks are:

  • Loss and/or theft of personal items (jewelry, mini-camera, camera, glasses, etc....).

In case of loss or theft, equipment damage caused by a participant's fault, your responsibility may be engaged to compensate the organizer Corsica Activities / Canyon Corse

What are the guarantees of your safety?

  • More than 20 years experience in risk management and activity organization.

Should I take out insurance?

The organizer Corsica Activities and the instructor have Liability Insurance. In case of accident, engagement of the organizer or instructor is not systematic or automatic. You must have all necessary insurance so that you and the people accompanying you are covered in case of accident, loss, damage or theft.

By participating in a canyoning or water hiking outing:
You must be fully aware that your participation may pose a risk to your integrity as well as that of the people accompanying you.
You must therefore be able to freely assume these consequences and be aware that engagement of the organizer and/or supervisor is not systematic or automatic in case of accident.
